SMART START'S FEE SYSTEM

Our fees are divided into two forms:

1. Your child is Toilet Trained to 3 years old = Normal Fees.

2. Your child is 3 to 5 years old = Optional Charges subsidised by the 20 Hours ECE government grant.

Fees are paid by the Term and are payable during the first two weeks of Term. To obtain a current fee schedule, please contact Grange Road Preschool's office.

SO HOW DOES THE GOVERMENT'S 20 HOURS ECE GRANT WORK

From the 1 July 2007, the government introduced the 20 hours Early Childhood Education (ECE) subsidy.

  • The 20 Hours ECE Subsidy starts when a child turns 3 and finishes when a child turns 6.
  • You receive up to 6 hours per day, to a maximum of 20 hours a week.
  • Once you reach the maximum of 20 Hours, the rest of the hours that your child attends the preschool are charged at Normal fee rates.

        For example:

  • If your child attends 2 Full days, this will equal 12 20 ECE Subsidy Hours (ie 2 days x 6 Hours = 12 Hours.)
  • If your child attends 3 Full days, this will equal 18 20 ECE Subsidy Hours (ie 3 days x 6 Hours = 18 Hours).
  • If your child attends 4 Full days, this will equal 20 ECE Subsidy Hours + 4 Hours Normal Fees (ie 4 days x 6 Hours = 24 Hours).
  • If your child attends 5 Full days, this will equal 20 ECE Subsidy Hours + 10 Hours Normal Fees (ie 5 days x 6 Hours = 30 Hours).
  • You may also choose to allocate the 20 ECE hours across more than one centre.

        For example:

  • Sarah goes to Smart Start for 3 Full days (ie 3 days x 6 Hours = 18 20 ECE Subsidy Hours) and 1 Full day at Daycare Ltd (ie 1 day x 6 Hours = 6 Hours, 2 being 20 ECE Subsidy Hours.)

Smart Start's Optional charge is for:

  • Contributing towards the cost of having  ALL (100%) of Smart Start Montessori’s  teachers  fully  qualified and registered with the NZ teachers council. We have chosen to do this to ensure a high quality of early childhood education for the children attending our preschools. We also believe that because all registered teachers are police vetted by the NZ Teachers Council, by having all our teachers fully registered, we are assured of the safety of our children who attend our preschools.
  • 100% Montessori trained teachers.
  • Our unique individual reading programme, for school readiness.
  • Specialised Montessori learning equipment.
  • Work books for literacy and numeracy to assist school readiness.

OUR TERM BREAK PROGRAMME.

Smart Start Montessori’s Term break programme is open to all preschoolers aged from 2 ½ years to 5 years (Please note: children are required to be toilet trained, complete an enrollmet form if not attending Smart Start Montessori and not be attending school ).

The Term break programme teachers are Montessori qualified and specialise in arts and crafts.

Children can attend 1-5 days per week.

The charge for the programme from 9am-1.30pm is $36 per day with the 20 Hours ECE. For extended care to 4.00pm please add an extra $20.

The charge of $36 is more than our term fees for a session ($25 for 9-12pm), because the holiday session runs one and a half hours longer (9am-1.30pm). Further more Management buys extra resources for the the holiday program activities. For example canvases and special watercolour art paper for each child.

The charge for the programme without the 20 Hours ECE is $54 from 9am-1.30pm. For extended care to 4.00pm please add an extra $30.

If you would like more information or a registration form please email  info@smartstart.school.nz or phone 6230097.

Bookings and enrolments are essential and are on a first in first served basis.
